EXPERIENCE
15 Years
LONG-TIME ATLANTA RESIDENT AND DEDICATED SOCIAL JUSTICE ADVOCATE
Social justice advocate
Social movements and LGBTQ+ advocacy have always played a huge role in my personal and professional life. In my 15 years living in Atlanta, I have actively participated in a variety of social justice initiatives, including advocating for faith-based initiatives and serving as a leader in staff diversity, inclusion, and engagement programs across a wide range of industries. I have organized events and programs to build community, grow leaders, and transform culture through inclusive excellence. These experiences have allowed me to make valuable contributions at civic decision-making tables and produce more equitable strategies for my neighborhood and for the city at large.
2013-2022
Managing grantmaking portfolio
NATIONAL ADVOCACY
I have had the privilege of consulting for a diverse range of organizations and industries, including faith-based initiatives, LGBTQ+ advocacy, and anti-bullying campaigns. One of my proudest accomplishments to date was managing the grant portfolio for Gays in Faith Together (GIFT), an Arcus Grant recipient for its Gay Christian? Yes! Campaign. This experience allowed me to work with local communities and develop initiatives that are rooted in lived experiences and aimed at transforming current power structures across the United States. In addition to my work with GIFT, I partnered with former Mayor of Grand Rapids, George Heartwell, on an Anti-Bullying Campaign, and worked with the West Michigan Gay Men's Chorus. These experiences have allowed me to make valuable contributions to civic decision-making tables and produce more equitable strategies for my community and beyond.
2015-2021
Policy and Infrastructure
MORE EQUITABLE AND SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION
In my previous work with non-profit organizations, I have gained a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by marginalized communities. In 2021, I played a key role in ensuring the city of Atlanta had accountable and engaged political leaders during the election year. I partnered with various organizations to provide deep engagement between candidates and voters and worked to garner support for a collaborative policy agenda.
